STATEMENT OF REASONS
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE COUNCIL
(VARIOUS ROADS – B4055 BLACKHORSE HILL AREA, EASTER COMPTON) (PROHIBITION OF WAITING) ORDER 202(-)
Background
As part of the Bristol Zoo Project the expanding site development has increased traffic movements that includes buses, visitors, and other vehicles accessing the site. The developer has provided funds for a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) on Blackhorse Hill in support of No Waiting at any Time restrictions (double yellow lines). South Gloucestershire Council intend to introduce No Waiting at Any Time restrictions to ensure safe and free flow of traffic and prevent inappropriate parking on the road.
Purpose of Scheme
The purpose of the scheme is to improve road safety and maintain the free flow of traffic associated with the new roundabout on Blackhorse Hill and prevent inappropriate and obstructive on-street parking on junctions, using waiting restrictions help prevent visibility and access issues. This should improve safety for residents and traffic in general.
Proposed Scheme
The proposed scheme is to implement new No Waiting at any Time restriction to improve access to the Bristol Zoo project, The Bristol Golf Club and local residential properties.
The following roads are affected by this scheme:
· Cribbs Causeway
· B4055 Blackhorse Hill
· St Swithins Lodge Lane
